Our Philosophy

Our teaching philosophy is based on our passion for the sport and our desire to help our riders achieve their personal goals. Our students have the benefit of learning alongside riders who are competing at the top levels of the sport as well as observing the development of top-performance horses.

Hillcrest Farm provides an environment that fosters learning, confidence, and relationship building in a family-friendly, fun environment. Through horseback riding, we teach skills and discipline that can also be applied to everyday life.

We offer full-service boarding, riding lessons for all ages and levels, and opportunities to show both locally and nationally. We have show-quality horses and ponies available for lessons, lease, and purchase. At Hillcrest, we dedicate ourselves to helping you achieve your goals and exceed your dreams.

Julie Cleveland Beam,
Owner and Trainer

Julie Cleveland Beam began showing on the A-circuit when she was eight years old. A successful stint as a pony rider led to the Junior hunters and equitation which inspired her to continue her career as a professional. She has shown in the Hunters on the National level, qualified and shown at Harrisburg, Washington, The National Horse Show, and many others.

Julie’s career also includes many years showing in the jumper ring with young horses through Grand Prix veterans. Now she enjoys sharing her passion for riding, by teaching others the necessary horsemanship and riding skills to achieve their goals and win at all levels.

She likes to provide a training program that is customized for each horse and rider combination. Julie understands that each client has specific needs, goals, and abilities. She has the skill and knowledge for what a horse needs and how to teach the rider how to get the best performance from their horse. Her goal is to see her riders and their horses succeed as a team.
